On April 26th, the Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice (KICJ), hosted a joint academic conference in collaboration with the Korean Association of Probation and Parole Servicices.

The conference focused on "Exploring New Directions in Juvenile Delinquency Prevention (Centered on Treatment and Rehabilitation)" and was attended by experts in criminal policy from academia and probation practitioners.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Youngoh Hong (Senior Research Fellow at KICJ), President of the Korean Association of Probation and Parole Servicices, highlighted the timeliness of the conference, which was dedicated to discussing new approaches to juvenile delinquency prevention, particularly in light of the emerging issue of online gambling among youths.

President Tae-hoon Ha, in his congratulatory speech, stated, "The Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice will continue to lead the paradigm of crime and criminal policy research through empirical and comprehensive analysis and research. We look forward to strengthening our collaborative relationships with related academic societies through joint research and academic events."

Woong-jang Yoon, Director-General of the Crime Prevention Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Justice, added in his speech, "The Ministry of Justice must respond to societal demands and public interest by devising effective policies concerning youth issues to ensure the safety of our future generations. We will carefully consider the discussions and proposals from today's experts and actively incorporate them into future policy-making.
