On April 3rd, the Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice (KICJ) hosted a seminar titled "Seminar on Victim Protection through Civil-Police Cooperation" in collaboration with the National Police Agency, the Korean Women Lawyers Association, the Korean Security Management Association, and the Korea Security Association.

The seminar aimed to foster cooperation among police, local governments, private companies, and other societal members to protect crime victims. It focused on sharing and reviewing various cases of cooperation to explore further development opportunities.

President Ha Tae-hoon emphasized “the need for diversified and intensified collaboration between the police and private sector due to the emergence of new crime types and the increasing number of high-risk offenders.” He expressed “hope for reviewing ongoing projects and discussing and sharing new forms of civil-police cooperation projects and tasks for further development.”

The first session highlighted “The Achievements and Future Tasks of the Support Project for High-Risk Crime Victims by Private Security,” presented by Park Jun-sung, Director of the Women's Safety Planning Division at the National Police Agency.

In the second session, Senior Researcher Lee Sang-hak from Chung-Ang University presented on the topic "Analyzing the Effectiveness of Crime Prevention Projects Using Private Security - Focused on the Case of the Seoul Safe Village Security Guards Project."

In the third session, Dr. Jang Da-hye, a research fellow from the Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice (KICJ), presented on 'Cooperation Measures for the Protection of Stalking and Domestic Violence Victims.' She reviewed and analyzed both domestic and international cases as methods to protect victims. Dr. Jang proposed development plans, including establishing a multi-agency response system and creating regulations for information sharing.
