On February 29th, a delegation of 31 judges from the Office of the Judiciary of Thailand, led by Panthong Soommart, Presiding Justice of the Supreme Court, visited the Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice (KICJ). The purpose of their visit was to learn Korea’s criminal proceedings and discuss Korean-Thai network cooperation and exchange strategies.

The event proceeded with a meeting with President Ha, an introduction to the institute, a presentation on Korea’s criminal procedures, followed by a Q&A session. President Ha spoke about Korea’s criminal justice and crime prevention policies, expressing hope for bilateral cooperation between the two countries on these issues. The meeting was attended by Presiding Justice Panthong Soommart, Supreme Court Taxation Division President Adisak Tantiwong, Supreme Court Research Division Chief Judge Teerasaht Mongkonpattarasook, and Criminal Court Presiding Judge Anirut Chaiteang.

 

Dr. Jisun Choi, Director of Cooperation Office, introduced the institute, and Dr. Hyun-Wook Chun, Director of Foreigners Immigration Policy Research Division, presented on Korea’s criminal procedures.

 

This visit will serve as a cornerstone for sharing experiences in criminal procedures and crime prevention between Korea and Thailand, setting the stage for future research cooperation between the two countries.
